Animal Friends’ Great Day Out
Monday, 8 August 2011
Yesterday, we here at Animal Friends very excitedly made our way down to the Salisbury Dog’s Trust Open Day where we were sponsoring the attempt at breaking the world record for the largest simultaneous dog stay/sit. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t quite as nice as hoped and so the record of 627 was not broken. The attempt was still a terrific effort though with 463 owners and their dogs managing to complete the two-minute ‘sitting’ required for the attempt to count.

A few days ago we posted about the lovely visit we received from Leslie Gold (the Supporter Relations Officer at The Salisbury Dog’s trust) and her lovely dog ‘Laika’ ahead of the Salisbury Dog’s Trust open day on Sunday 7th August. As the event is drawing ever nearer the staff at Animal Friends are gearing up for what is going to be a brilliant event.
Dog's Trust Visit
Wednesday, 27 July 2011
A few weeks ago we had Leslie Gold from The Salisbury Dog Trust visit Animal Friends HQ with her dog 'Laika'.
Leslie was only popping in to collect some of our newsletters for the upcoming Salisbury Dog's Trust Open Day where Animal Friends are sponsoring a Guinness World Record attempt for the World’s Largest simultaneous Dog Stay, but she ended up staying over an hour so we could make sure Laika had a chance to meet and be spoilt by all our staff. Despite many requests from everyone to keep Laika here at the office, sadly she had to leave (obviously not without a toy) but we will see her and Leslie again very soon.
Pony Killed in Hampshire

‘Take your dog to work’ day
Thursday, 23 June 2011
This Friday is the annual ‘take your dog to work’ day, another of those annual events with the same stigma attached as ‘talk like a pirate’ day – perhaps meant as a joke, and nothing to be taken seriously. Pet owners may, however, be interested to know that having an animal in the workplace may actually help with stress and depression in the workplace, according to a series of research undertaken in America.

Losing a Pet
Friday, 27 May 2011
As pet owners, we all know that losing a pet can be one of the hardest things we have to face; often our beloved companions are suffering before our eyes and, deep down, we know that we have to make that final choice to end their suffering. This is obviously a very difficult time for any pet owner, and it can be made that more difficult when considering the costs of veterinary bills and the extra stress that accompanies this.

Thursday, 26 May 2011
This week we have a guest blog written by Rebecca from Gocompare, with some results from a recent poll showing how many dogs are left at home alone during the day. Have a read through, and tell us whether you leave your dog at home or not, and what your thoughts are on people that do this.
