Somerset owners shocked by pet shootings E-mail
Ethical insurance customers across Somerset are being urged to keep close tabs on their beloved pets after a series of attacks left several animals badly injured.

According to the Burnham and Highbridge Weekly News, vets recently came to the rescue of a seagull and a buzzard that had both been shot out of the sky - and now thugs are targeting domestic pets.

Anita McNaulty, who lives in the Burnham area, said her four-year-old cat Hudson has suffered two gunshot wounds to his tail and his abdomen over the course of the past few weeks.

"Hudson has not been the same since he was shot and we have been so shocked by it and don't know who is doing this," she said.

Ms McNaulty added that a nearby dog was also shot in the head, urging more owners to report such instances and make sure something is done about it.

The call comes after one angry pet insurance customer told the Gloucestershire Echo that the "barbaric and insane" individuals who target animals with airguns should face tougher penalties for their actions.

His pet cat Cookie lost a leg after being shot twice by thugs in the space of two months.
