An Oxfordshire man is counting his blessings after his pet helped identify a cancerous mole.Chris Tuffrey's dog Beamish repeatedly tried to draw attention to the mole by licking him and trying to get him to lift his arm, reports BBC News. The mole, which had been on Mr Tuffrey's chest for 15 years, had been ignored for all this time, but he responded to Beamish's insistence by going to the doctor. It was eventually revealed that the mole had turned cancerous and that he was suffering from melanoma. Mr Tuffrey, who lives in Banbury, was immediately sent to hospital, where he had the mole removed. Commenting on his dog's part in the episode, he said: "He's absolutely brilliant." "I shall be grateful to him for the rest of my life.'' This comes after a family told the Sun that they have felt numerous health benefits since buying a dog. Speaking to the newspaper, Colin and Lyn Lawrence said they have both lost lots of weight as a result of taking the dog for regular walks.
