Granted charitable status in 1996, Crosskennan Lane Animal Sanctuary (based near Antrim, Ireland) works tirelessly to tackle Ireland’s on-going problem of horse abandonment. This issue has become increasingly apparent since the decline of the economic climate, with the prices for ponies and horses being very low, leading to many of them simply being left at a roadside or tied up in a field to fend for themselves.

This charity promotes the issues surrounding animal welfare, whilst educating the wider public, in the hope that there will be more awareness and knowledge raised on the subject of the treatment of horses and ponies in Ireland.

Animal Friends Pet Insurance donated £1,500 to Crosskennan Lane Animal Sanctuary after they took pat in the old version of our ‘Vote for a Charity’ competition.
