Dogs Trust is perhaps one of the largest and best known dog welfare charities in the U.K. To date they have 18 rehoming centres that care for around 16,000 dogs in need on an annual basis.

In addition to taking in, caring for and rehoming dogs, Dogs Trust also educate the public about stray dogs and the importance of neutering/spaying, giving presentations and making teaching resources. They also run subsidised neutering campaigns in areas of the UK with the most acute stray dog problems; have their FREEDOM project that helps pet owners who are fleeing domestic violence by fostering their animals while they start a new life and their HOPE project that gives preventative veterinary care to dogs belonging to homeless people.

Animal Friends have supported both the main Dogs Trust based in London and our local branch based at Salisbury. We have made a one-off donation to the main branch back in February 2011.  You can read more about the Dogs Trust here.
