Secret World Wildlife Rescue specialises in the rescue, rehabilitation and eventual release of orphaned and injured wild creatures. In each year up to 3,000 wild animals are cared for at Secret World. Together with a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, the Charity continues to care for all manner of creatures, from the tiniest harvest mice and bats to badgers, swans, foxes and deer.
Pauline Kidner founded the Bluebell Sett Charity in 1992 to support this wildlife work. Pauline has become famous for her work with badgers in particular and this work has been recognised nationally by winning the BBC Animal Country Award in 1995 and by appearances in numerous TV programmes. Its name honours 'Bluebell', one of the first cubs reared by Pauline. Although she was released and free to go, Bluebell chose to stay at the farm where she raised two cubs of her own and adopted three others before her death in 1994. Pauline was also nominated for the BBC Animal Awards in 2001 for 'contribution to animal welfare' award. Pauline says:-

"Our aim is to relieve the suffering of injured and orphaned wild animals that cannot help themselves. We believe that every living creature is entitled to the best possible chance of survival through receiving the care and rehabilitation it requires to make a full recovery”.

Animal Friends have been proud to help Pauline and Secret World in their valuable work. We recently donated £4,500 to substantially assist in the building of a number of release pens which are to be the first stage of rehabilitation for fox cubs orphaned through the shooting of their mothers. When they are ready, the cubs will be released back into the wild in areas safe from persecution.
