The Mayhew Animal Home

Some Animal Friends may already know of the special promotion AFI have been running to help raise funds for The Mayhew Animal Home in London.

50% of commissions on policies sold through the home have been donated to this fabulous organisation, totalling more than £70,000 to date!

The Mayhew Animal Home is so much more than a rescue facility for abandoned and abused animals; they also operate a Community Veterinary Clinic and Humane Education Centre. The money donated by Animal Friends Pet Insurance has been used to help with the Home's neutering program, and below is an extract from a recent email sent to Chris Fairfax:

"[the money]...means that we can continue with our Free Bull Breed Neutering, which is consistently booked up months in advance and also with our Trap, Neuter and Return scheme (TNR) for feral cats. In London there is a large and growing problem with the over population of bull breeds and their subsequent mis-use and there is also a growing population of feral cats, meaning that every Summer, The Mayhew is over run with feral kitten litters and our Animal Welfare Officers are inundated with calls to collect feral litters, meaning their time is completely monopolised with dealing with the problem of stray and feral cats breeding. Education and action through neutering programme is the key to attempting to put a stop to problems arising from both these issues."

The Mayhew was established over 120 years ago and today it is one of the busiest sanctuaries in London. Every year it cares for and re-homes thousands of animals - cats, dogs and rabbits - that have been abused, neglected or abandoned. However, the work of The Mayhew goes far beyond care and re-homing, and includes:
