Sometimes, you meet someone that really makes a difference to your life. Trudie James at Dog SOS really impressed Elaine when she met with her.

Trudie and her team spend all of their time trying to save dogs being destroyed in dog pounds. Did you know that dogs only spend a few days in the pounds. If they are not rescued, then are put to sleep. Trudie and her team drive all over the country rescuing as many of them as they can from the pounds. Some they can transfer directly to rescue centres.

Here is an excert from their web site which explains why they are so precious to AFI. "Ibelieve we are the only charity that funds veterinary treatment for dogs in the pounds to alleviate their suffering.  In the present financial climate we are having to cope with an additional number of dogs abandoned at the pounds because of their veterinary conditions. We have continued to carry out this vital area of our work throughout our crisis, paying off the vets bills when we could but always saving the life first.  We have also continued to provide the pound dogs with food, blankets, coats and non-prescription medication throughout this long and very cold winter." Wow, what wonderful people and what a wonderful job they do!

Some dogs are put in “temporary kennels” until a space can be found for them. Animal Friends Pet Insurance were delighted to be able to fund the “temporary kennels”.
