This month, AFI are pleased to bring you a series of updates on charities which we have supported in the past. As these are such challenging times for everyone, we though it would be helpful to highlight some of the current campaigns and appeals run by the individual organisations themselves. Remember, too, that every pet insurance sale from AFI will contribute to helping the plight of animals in trouble all around the world.

Secret World Wildlife Rescue

The Secret World Wildlife Rescue is an organisation that specifically helps wild animals. It is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife and then releasing them back into the wild so they can live their lives to the fullest. This rescue organisation helps thousands of animals each year and is committed to helping any wild animal, no matter how large or small.

Secret World opens its doors to the public on certain days with no admission charge; all they ask for is a donation towards their efforts. Each weekend they have a featured animal you can learn about and see. July 25th and 26th will be Tortoises & Hedgehogs Open Weekend and it is your chance to meet these popular animals in person. You will be able to learn about the work that Secret World performs. You won't want to miss the exciting ferret racing. There is no charge but any donations will be greatly appreciated.

The last weekend of August will be the Animal Antics Open Weekend which brings to a close the open weekends for another year. This event is to celebrate the diverse range of animals that are cared for at Secret World. There will be plenty of activities and things to see for the whole family.

Secret World is currently campaigning on behalf of badgers. The Black and White Campaign is an effort to save thousands of badgers from the Welsh Assembly badger cull. The badgers are thought to spread TB in cattle but research has shown no correlation. Secret World Wildlife Rescue is continuing the fight and trying to spread the word in this controversial issue.
