Metal scraps injure a pet dog - A greyhound injured his legs on Blackpool beach. Scrap metals on the beach were responsible for his injury, and so dog owners in the area are warned to take care of their pets if they walk them on the beach.

Rik Perkin was walking on the sand near Cenotaph with his three year old dog named Ripa when the pet jumped in a pool of water. He came out bleeding from the pool.

Mr Perkin was shocked to see pieces of metal littered across the beach. He wants other people to know about this incident as he wants other dogs to be safe.

A fifty year old eye witness from Egerton Road, North Shore said that while the dog was running on the beach, he jumped into a pool of water. The dog came out of the pool making a painful sound. She noticed the dogs legs were severely bleeding.   The dog was then rushed to a vet immediately as they thought that the cut was deep. The vet examined the dog and stitched up his three legs. For safety reasons, the dog was kept overnight in the hospital. This is a good example of how dog insurance could save your day!

Metal scraps on the beach were responsible for this unfortunate incident. Inspection team visited the area and later cleaned the area of the metal pieces. Although not a common occurance it always pays to be careful.
