Tale of a dead cat and his grieving friend Oscar, the dog A pet dog did not stop at mourning the death of the family’s cat. He was pained so much that he chose to dig up the dead cat’s grave to get the dead body back. This incident was recently reported in many of the leading UK newspapers that mentioned how Oscar’s owners after waking up the next day found the dog curled up beside the dead cat in his basket. Robert Bell and his wife, his owners from Wigan (Greater Manchester) think that Oscar, their dog, had licked Arthur, the cat, clean before falling asleep exhausted. Mr Bell informed that the two (pets) were close companions. Arthur was a large cat, and used to assist the dog to get on to the sofa. Oscar, a Lancashire Heeler, is 18 months old. The dog had watched his owner digging a grave and then lowering the dead cat into it. Mr Bell stated: “Keeping in mind that Arthur was rather a huge cat, the dog must have made used up all the strength he could generate. Then he managed to pull him back into the basket and went asleep just next to him.” Arthur’s coat appeared gleaming white. Oscar, it was apparent, had licked the dead cat clean. This must have taken nearly all night, the owner believes. Arthur has now been reburied in a grave. Incidentally, Oscar has got a new playmate, Limpet, a kitten. Such is the love that pets harbour for their mates and owners. We can repay it partially by taking a pet insurance; and that is the tale of a dead cat and his grieving friend Oscar, the dog |
