Sooty, a cat, shot by an arrow - A three year old black cat named Sooty was shot with an arrow in Holyhead, Anglesey. The plastic arrow was six inches (15 cm) long. Sooty was treated by an off duty vet who was very disturbed by this incident.

The cat’s owner Dameon Armstrong, aged 25 was shocked that people hurt poor innocent pets for enjoyment. He hopes the shooter will be caught by the police before he or she repeats a similar attempt.

Sooty was found injured by Mr Armstrong, a labourer. He was crying with pain as the yellow plastic arrow had torn his skin and entered his back.

Mr Armstrong first panicked when he saw the wounded Sooty. He went to Sooty to take him to the vet but Sooty ran away in pain. Fortunately, Sooty returned an hour later with the arrow still in his back.

Mr Armstrong was relieved to see Sooty back and immediately took him to the Anglesey Pet Clinic in Holyhead. The clinic was closed. However, vet James Rutter came and treated Sooty.

Sooty was saved as the shooter had fired the arrow from behind, hence the arrow did not penetrate internal organs. The arrow was removed without surgery. If the shooter would have shot the arrow from front or side, the injuries might have been fatal.
