About half the pets in the UK need some sort of expensive veterinarian care every year. Your pet could be one of those!

Europe Proggy Award WinnerYou should check the appropriate insurance cover available and the premium you need to pay for treatments like curing an abscess or removing a tumour.

The most expensive policy is the one that covers your pet for life. It usually covers vet fees up to a specified amount every year and that annual cover will continue each year as long as you keep paying the premiums. The premiums have to be paid annually and they are likely to get more expensive as your pet grows older.

You can go for the maximum benefits policy or the more limited twelve-month policy. Like the maximum benefits policy, the latter too covers conditions individually. The twelve-month policy, as the name suggests, offers cover for one year; once a condition is claimed for, that condition is then excluded in future years, not the case with full lifetime cover. What this means is that, if your pet needs treatment for a similar condition the second time or gets an ongoing condition, the twelve-month policy won’t cover it.

Pet insurance plans are offered taking into consideration the age, the health and breed of the animal. Accordingly, the premium is worked out. Policies do not cover the basic veterinary costs of vaccination and worm control. Billy acts as a responsible father, and treats Lily as his own child. Lily reciprocates by following him wherever he goes. He keeps a close eye on her to keep her safe, licks her clean and stays close to her at night. Lily seems to thrive on his attention; she is doing well.

They share a special bond and are constant companions. Nanny goats can usually look after only two kids at a time so Lily’s mother abandoned her, the weakest and the smallest. Cats Help Improve Your Health E-mail

Owning a cat can reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke by more than a third, according to a new survey. Researchers say that a pet cat help relieve stress and anxiety as it helps in reducing the heart rate and lowering the blood pressure.

Over 4000 adults between in the age-group of thirty and seventy-five were chosen for the study. More than half of them owned cats. The findings showed 5.8 percent of the group - without pet cats - died of a heart attack over ten years in comparison to 3.4 percent of cat owners who died during the same period. Taking into account other factors like diabetes, high cholesterol levels and smoking, it was observed that cat owners still had a lower rate of strokes and heart attacks. According to Professor Adnan Qureshi of Minnesota University, cat ownership relieves anxiety and stress and therefore, reduces the risk of heart disease. One of the reasons for this could be that stroking a cat lowers the level of stress-related hormones in the blood. These in turn lower the blood pressure and the heart rate. To keep beloved pet cats happy and healthy, get pet insurance for them!

Long-haired Chihuahua goes for World Record E-mail

Dancer, five inches tall, is a long-haired Chihuahua therapy dog. He almost set a record for the world’s smallest dog but other dogs beat him to it because they were even smaller!

Guiness Book World Records
Guiness Book World Records
Jenny Gomes, Dancer’s owner, has now embarked on another mission. She made tiny Dancer spend weeks in training to learn to become the smallest therapy dog in the world.

According to Gomes, several therapy-dog certification agencies refused to accept Dancer because of his tiny size. Dancer (or rather, Gomes) tried a few more times and finally overcame defeat! Gomes says that everybody thinks small dogs cannot do anything useful. Now people will take the small dog seriously.

Guinness World Records will have to create a category for smallest therapy dog if they declare Dancer a record holder. Gomes hopes to hear from the UK based organisation in a few months. Caring Canines certified Dance in January. Since then he and Gomes have visited camps for children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities. They have also visited schools and a camp for children suffering from chronic and life-threatening illnesses.

Insurance For Household Pets E-mail

The expenses of veterinary care are getting higher. Pet emergency can cost you thousands of pounds but if you have insured your pet then you can get treatment easily and immediately.

This will help you to keep your pet healthy and will not harm your pocket too. Now if your pet is not insured, now is the right time to buy it. However, before taking about pet insurance, you must know a few important things.

The first thing you should know is what pet insurance really means. Pet insurance is a policy which covers pets, mainly dogs and cats, if they are healthy, for their whole life. Pet insurance means that when your pet needs an emergency medical treatment, it can be given the best treatment without harming your pocket.

The second thing you should be aware of is what does pet insurance cover. Pet insurance can cover emergency kennelling costs which include costs like travel and theft, and all veterinary bills. Routine treatments and vaccinations are generally not included but there are some exceptions.

Older pets are generally more difficult to insure. It is also difficult to get insurance for pre-existing illnesses and so it is good to take insurance as soon as possible.

The last important thing is the process of paying the premium. Generally insurance can be paid on a monthly basis but if you want greater value of coverage then you will want to pay a higher premium.
