Writer recalls animals rescued and gone

One writer has exhaustedly recounted his partner's obsession with pet health care.

In a piece for the Perthshire Advertiser, Denis Brown admits that his girlfriend Tania is a crusader for cat and dog rescue and has in the past taken in a host of needy animals, including a stray pooch on holiday in Sri Lanka.

However, the most recent challenge was right on the couple's doorstep when a six-month-old Bengal crossbreed turned up.

Mr Brown and Tania allowed the creature into their home - and it took a long time for them to let him go, as she was determined to keep the kitty, which she named Tiiger.

However, Mr Brown continued, circumstances conspired against them as their small Crieff flat proved no match for the mischievous and energetic animal.

"Finally Tania listened to reason, conceding Tiiger clearly needed a home with a large garden," he added, noting that they called a charity which has picked up the cat and promised to find it a good home.

Owners struggling to care for their own animals may wish to take note of Mr Brown's story if they feel they need to find another residence for their furry friends and seek expert help and advice rather than dumping it somewhere.

Animal Friends are a specialist pet insurance company providing dog insurance and cat insurance to British pet owners since 1999 and we now offer horse insurance too.
