Pet health care tips for going on holiday

Jetting off on a last-minute summer holiday? Having a great time might be easier if you are confident in the pet health care resources left at home for your furry friend.

According to a piece on Paw Nation, carers - whether they are strangers, trained individuals or a close friend - need certain types of information when they are charged with taking care of your pet dog or cat.

This includes facts about the creature's daily schedule, as many animals - especially canines - are very much routine beings and may feel more uneasy than the situation warrants if this is disrupted unduly.

Furthermore, if a pet has idiosyncrasies, leave details of these. Anything the sitter can do the keep the animal happy and relaxed is a good thing for both it and them.

What's more, owners can help out by making their exit as low-key and discreet as possible.

The article recommended exercising the pet to tire it out and leaving without a big fuss or tearful goodbyes.

Other handy information that is vitally important are emergency contact numbers, location of the nearest vet, pet insurance and health details, and perhaps a store of cash to help out with unexpected purchases.

Animal Friends are a specialist pet insurance company providing dog insurance and cat insurance to British pet owners since 1999 and we now offer horse insurance too.
