A couple who may be on the hunt for cat insurance now they are back in the UK have spoken about their return journey from Greece, which involved a search for family pet Spartacus.
The cat is one of two owned by Kit and Megan Peel, and broke free through a window while his cage was being x-rayed at Athens airport.
Speaking to the BBC, the Peels said he was scared and ran into a busy cargo area, which was next to a motorway.
"It was about the worst possible place you can imagine to lose a cat," Mr Peel explained, going on to say that while he flew home with other feline Tancredi, Spartacus was not found for hours.
The couple also said carrier British Airways did not apologise for the incident.
However, the airline claimed its handlers in Greece had previously received praise for their treatment of travelling animals.
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has lots of information for anyone needing to transport their furry friends across international borders. Pet insurance companies may also be able to help.
Animal Friends are a specialist pet insurance company providing dog insurance and cat insurance to British pet owners since 1999 and we now offer horse insurance too.
