Scottish SPCA looking to home three stray snakes

Pet health care is not just for traditional household pets - as three stray snakes recently found out.

The Scottish SPCA is looking to rehome a trio of reptiles all found in the capital Edinburgh late last month.

Two of them are pet corn snakes and one is an albino hatchling. All are harmless and in good condition, the organisation said.

Each is being looked after at the Edinburgh and Lothians Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre, which has a specialist "exotics room".

Assistant manager Kenny Sharpe said anyone who has recently lost such a pet should get in touch.

"Corn snakes make popular pets as they are small and typically quite docile and easy to handle ... However, they are fantastic escape artists," he added, going on to say that people with the right experience and knowledge about looking after such an animal would likely find the snakes a joy.

Unfortunately, they are not the only pets to have been abandoned in recent weeks.

The Scottish SPCA launched an appeal for information after two young lop-eared Netherland dwarf rabbits were found.

Animal Friends Insurance, one of the largest independent pet insurers in the UK offer dog insurance, cat insurance and horse insurance to UK residents.
