A cat that became famous for his apparent gift of knowing when a person is going to die will be hitting the big screen soon, in a film that ethical insurance customers may be eager to view.
According to Variety, Oscar will be immortalised on film now that the rights to David Dosa's non-fiction book, Making the Rounds With Oscar: The Extraordinary Gift of an Ordinary Cat, have been purchased by screenwriters Luis Ugaz and Stephen Lindsey.
The moggy was taken into the Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Rhode Island as a kitten and was used to comfort and reassure patients.
However, his alleged extraordinary talent of clairvoyance became apparent when he started curling up and sleeping next to patients and residents that would soon be shuffling off their mortal coils.
Now five years old, he is used as a warning sign in the hospital and doctors alert the families of his chosen companion that the end is nigh, the film publication continued.
He is not the only furry friend to have been assigned supernatural status - felines feature prominently in many superstitions, including the UK concept that black cats are lucky and the North American contradiction which says moggies of this colour are a sign of misfortunate.
Animal Friends Insurance, one of the largest independent pet insurers in the UK offer dog insurance, cat insurance and horse insurance to UK residents.
