Legend of black cats apparently leading to influx in pet health care centres

A pet health care shelter has held a special adoption fair for the darkest of its moggies.
The drive today is designed to show that neither Friday 13th nor a black cat is unlucky, after kitties with these coats became noticeably overlooked at the Canadian centre, according to the Postmedia Network.
The Williams Lake BC SPCA has apparently been inundated with these creatures as supporters will inevitably be drawn towards felines with lighter fur, manager Liz Dighton said.
"No matter where you put a black cat, the one beside it will probably go before," she added.
In fact, the issue has led to kitties that have been at the shelter longer than most being positioned alongside noir moggies in an effort to get them noticed.
It is thought that the problem could be due to a superstition held by many North Americans declaring that a black cat is a symbol of bad luck - although the opposite is believed in the UK, where they are thought to be fortuitous furry creatures.
As such, the shelter has held a Freaky Friday Feline Festival Adopt-a-thon today.
Animal Friends Insurance, one of the largest independent pet insurers in the UK offer dog insurance, cat insurance and horse insurance to UK residents.
