Cat found as a stowaway on Irish train

Tuesday, 31 August 2010 19:31

A cat seems to have decided she was not going to waste her nine lives snoozing in front of the fireplace, preferring instead to creep aboard a train as a stowaway, ethical insurance customers might be amused to hear.

The tabby was discovered by employees of Irish Rail at Pearse Station and the company found an ingenious way of reaching out to potential pet parents - the power of social networking.

Iarnroid Eireann used its Facebook page and Twitter platform to send out an appeal for information about the owner of the moggy, attaching a picture of the creature snuggled in a worker's arms and looking for all the world like the cat that caught the proverbial canary.

And Lilou's carer was soon tracked down, with the firm posting a new update today confirming that she had been reunited with Eric.

This is certainly better news that another recent discovery on a train by the Scottish SPCA - two puppies abandoned in a bag.

Animal Friends Insurance, one of the largest independent pet insurers in the UK offer dog insurance, cat insurance and horse insurance to UK residents.
