Pooch with three legs may win money for dog rescue

A three-legged pooch is in the running to pick up $5,000 (£3,242) for dog rescue - a far cry from where he was just six months ago.
Leopold was discovered in March alone and homeless on an Indiana road, with a deep wound to his one of his hind limbs that was badly infected, according to the Gazette.
The leg was so contaminated, pet health care staff were forced to amputate it at the hip.
However, unlike with humans, most animals can easily adjust to such a disability as it is believed it does not alter their perception of themselves.
Luckily rescued by animal-loving members of the public who ended up fostering him and creating a webpage about his adventures, he caught the eye of Norman Marks and Judith Benkendorf, who ended up adopting the weimaraner.
"Leopold had such a courageous and sad story. This dog just really needed a family like ours," Ms Benkendorf said.
Now the uplifting tale has an even happier ending: the pooch is in the final ten for the Purina dog food's Rally to Rescue contest, which - if he wins - will donate the cash to Great Lakes Weimaraner Rescue.
