Pet adoption centre aims to match owner to cat

Pet adoption involves various elements and decisions, such as whether to buy cat insurance and what type of health care the animal will require.

Director Heather McLean said the centre interviews people and finds out as much about them as possible, in order to put them with the right cat.

For instance, kittens have a "hooligan phase" in their early years which make them not quite suitable for those who work all day - but adult independent cats that are happy to stay at home sleeping would be fine.

"Hopefully in the next few weeks people who have been considering having a cat might be thinking that now is the time to do it," she added.
