Feline adoption festival held to attract interest

A cat and dog rescue centre held a special feline fete this weekend in an effort to lighten the load on its pet health care resources.
The Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service (Scraps) reduced its adoption fee for cats and kittens by $25 (£16) on August 28th for the weekend, according to the Spokesman-Review.
The Washington shelter took this action to try to encourage visitors and supporters to consider taking a feline friend into their lives, as it has welcomed over 100 kitties in the past seven days.
"We have been inundated with cats in the last week and need to do as many adoptions as we can over this weekend," Scraps director Nancy Hill said.
Its crisis echoes that experienced currently in the RSPCA's branches, which are struggling to cope with their influx of moggies.
The shelter in Putney is apparently the worst affected, with many felines potentially without homes.
