Unlucky kitten taken in by shelter woman

A pet health care professional has spoken out about the struggle one of her feline charges is going through.

The Lake Cowichan Gazette reports that Siamese kitten Su-Lei has undergone several procedures and surgeries in an effort to tackle her abnormal abdominal wall, which is presently suffering from a perforating hernia.

The creature's abdominal wall is incredibly thin, meaning the bowel can easily tear through it - but Marg Livingston, of the local animal shelter, is determined to keep the tiny cat healthy.

Su-Lei has been dealt a tough hand, health-wise - as well as this condition, which will result in chronic herniation, she has a weak bladder, meaning she is incontinent and prone to infection.

"It's kind of hard to find people who will put up with that," Ms Livingston pointed out - so she has taken the creature in herself.

Shelters everywhere are struggling to cope with their influx of kittens and many are requesting help or people willing to foster some of the felines.
