Dog rescue undertaken after neighbours raise alarm

A dog rescue case involving nearly 100 canines has been conducted in Montana, US, after neighbours of the owner's house raised the alarm.
The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is assisting the Wilbaux County sheriff's department in rehoming the pets, which were crowded into a space far too small for their needs.
Residents of the street were concerned conditions were substandard and unsanitary, and called the organisation to step in.
The owner is not believed to have use of a vehicle or phone, making it difficult for him to adequately care for the animals.
Veterinary treatment is likely to be needed, as some of the dogs have contracted skin infections and parasites.
"The individual caring for these dogs started out with good intentions, but has obviously become overwhelmed and lacks the resources to give these dogs ... the individual attention they deserve," explained HSUS director of animal cruelty issues Adam Parascandola.
In recent months, the society established a scheme to protect more canines - in particular, prairie dogs. It helped to relocate hundreds who may have otherwise perished.
