Girl who threw puppies in river allegedly identified

Monday, 6 September 2010 17:07

Dog rescue and animal welfare campaigners are likely to be relieved upon hearing reports that the girl seen throwing puppies into a river has apparently been identified.

According to Agence France-Presse, citing the SRNA news company, Bosnian police say they have found the female seen in the 44-second clip, which sent shockwaves around the world for its graphic content.

It focuses on a girl who takes black-and-white pet dogs out of a bucket and, one by one, hurls them towards the water.

Spokesperson for the authorities Sefir Barucija said there were no plans to reveal the girl's name or details, although he admitted she lives in a town called Bugojino.

A Facebook group - Find the Girl Who Threw Puppies in River - was set up and now has thousands of supporters. There are numerous others on the social networking site, some of which have links to the now-deleted YouTube video.
