Pet health care 'always involves a healthy diet'

The key to long-term and thorough pet health care is lots of exercise and a healthy diet.

This advice was recently given by animal accessories company Pet Express, which is aiming to promote responsible ownership across the UK.

And while there are lots of items people can buy to keep their dog or cat happy, regular care and attention should always be paid to what it eats and how active it is.

"Your pet is a member of your family and should be treated as such," a spokesperson for Pet Express said.

Making sure your dog gets enough exercise is crucial for keeping it mentally and physically stimulated, so this might mean putting in a bit of extra effort and taking it out for more walks.

Pet Express, which describes itself as a "champion" of good pet health care, also highlighted certain products that cats are likely to need, including mini flea combs and worming tablets.
