Dog walking 'is a great way to exercise'

Dog walking is a fantastic way to exercise and socialise with others in the community.
This is according to a recent article in the Examiner, which said it was one of the best things an owner can do with its pet.
Canines who are not getting enough exercise may show signs of frustration such as digging, chewing, barking and running off.
So, giving it as many outings as possible should help mental and physical stimulation for the both of you.
Writer Angel Fitzpatrick said: "Start with just a 20-minute walk per day and in no time you and your dog will be in shape, happier, and will look forward to your daily walks."
However, she added that people need to respect their neighbours and ensure they set off armed with plastic bags to clean up after the dog.
Many regions operate a dog fouling policy which sees owners fined for not disposing of this type of waste properly.
Animal Friends are a specialist pet insurance company providing dog insurance and cat insurance to British pet owners since 1999 and we now offer horse insurance too.
