A couple that got in trouble while attempting a dog rescue were saved by the authorities earlier this week.
They had been attempting to save their pet dog stuck on a cliff near Ilfracombe.
In attempting the rescue act, the man and woman became trapped themselves and had to call 999.
The call went through to the Swansea Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, which immediately deployed rescue teams from Ilfracombe and Mortehoe and requested a helicopter from the Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre.
The man and the dog were airlifted to safety by the helicopter and the woman was recovered by coastguard officers.
Swansea coastguard warned people against attempting to rescue their pets in such circumstances.
Steve Jones, a Swansea coastguard watch manager, said: "Dog owners are reminded to keep their dogs on leads when they are exercising them near cliffs."
At the end of February coastguards in Dover saved a Staffordshire bull terrier that had been swept out to sea.
