Which toys are most popular for pet dogs?

Even though many pet dogs can be amused with nothing more than a tennis ball, some toys are more popular than others.

US-based BestFriends General Store has revealed its top-selling items - and the first on the list are Egg Babies Replacement Eggs by Kyjen. These plush squeaking balls are among the top products each year.

Many noise-making toys are on the list and the Oy Vey! Gelfite Fish from Multipet is described on their website as "Hanukah delight for the whole family".

However, there are still some items on the list that are straightforward and old-fashioned - such as the 14-inch Push-n-Play, the largest durable dog ball on the US market aimed at those who worry about eviscerated tennis balls.

Bungee Octopuses, Beanie Babies and, bafflingly, a puzzle also made the cut - which begs the question of whether the most popular toys are actually for animals or their owners.

Animal Friends Insurance, one of the largest independent pet insurers in the UK offer dog insurance, cat insurance and horse insurance to UK residents.
