Pet dogs to start Twittering

Wednesday, 10 February 2010 18:20

Pet dogs will soon be on Twitter thanks to a new iPhone application, which will help owners understand their dog's behaviour.

The iPhone application, which will be launched this summer, is an adaptation of the Bowlingual dog emotion translator released in 2002, according to PC World.

The software claims to be able to tell if a dog is sad, frustrated, needy, happy, self-expressive or on guard, by translating their bark. Each emotion has an associated phrase that can then be posted to Twitter directly from the iPhone.

Using the iPhone's built-in camera the application can also photograph the dog and combine the result and tweet before uploading to the web.

The company releasing the application, Index Corp, plans to charge $4.99, according to spokeswoman Sonoko Tatsuno.

Dogs are already prevalent on Twitter, with fashion, personal hygiene and even health issues amongst the topics they discuss.

Animal Friends Insurance, one of the largest independent pet insurers in the UK offer dog insurance, cat insurance and horse insurance to UK residents.
