Pet dog and cat-themed bedrooms may work for kids

Pet insurance customers with children may like to try decorating their rooms with an animal-based theme.
This is the advice of interior designer Gail Mayhugh, writing for the Las Vegas Review Journal.
She suggested choosing an animal corresponding to the gender of the kids, with a chamber decor based on a pet dog for a boy and a cat for a girl as one possible example.
"Over your son's bed paint a dog with its dog house and for your daughter, a cat tree with cats playing. Then add dog and cat paws around the room," she recommended.
This may have the added effect of encouraging children to become more involved with their own pets.
Parents considering bringing an animal into their family life might find sitting down with their kids and drawing up a list of responsibilities for the new arrival's welfare helpful, as this may be a good way of getting the children to play their part.
