Ethical insurance shoppers with an interest in how resources are helping those affected by the recent earthquake in Haiti may be encouraged to hear about a new RSPCA development.
The charity said its chief officer has been deployed to run the Animal Relief Coalition for Haiti (Arch), which is a collaborative effort involving 21 voluntary organisations from across the globe.
It aims to work with locals to assist injured animals and provide vaccines for creatures ranging from pet dogs to poultry and livestock.
Kevin Degenhard, who will now take over the role of coordinator, commented that it was a "massive honour" to do so.
The RSPCA highlighted the importance of caring for Haiti's animals since the quake, as they are depended on not just for food or companionship, but also protection.
"The Arch team is working very closely with local people and I am confident that we will be able to help make a difference to the humans and animals affected by this terrible tragedy," added Mr Degenhard.
Haiti is not the only country to have suffered major losses due to natural disaster this year - recent days saw Chile hit by a quake with a magnitude of 8.8. Haiti's was seven, followed by an aftershock of 5.9.
Animal Friends Insurance, one of the largest independent pet insurers in the UK offer dog insurance, cat insurance and horse insurance to UK residents.
