Daredevil cat 'lucky not to be injured'

Monday, 22 February 2010 12:35

One cat, from Gloucestershire, is living proof that animals can get themselves in situations where they could easily be injured and require pet health care.

Tigger, a tabby cat belonging to Mary Nightingale of Gordon Road, Cheltenham, was missing for 11 days before being spotted on top of a roof of a house in the town on Friday, according to This is Gloucestershire.

The RSPCA and fire crews were called in at 08:40 GMT last Friday morning to get Tigger down. But the rescue attempt spooked him, causing the cat to jump 12.2 metres from the chimney to the ground.

Tigger was not injured by the jump, although he may have used up one of his nine lives.

An RSPCA spokeswoman said: ''Anything can happen with these sort of rescues. The animals can get spooked and he was lucky not to be injured.''

Mary said she was amazed that Tigger, currently recovering at home, had not broken a bone in the jump.
