Sheridan: My pet dogs all sleep in bed with me

Gavin and Stacey actress Sheridan Smith has spoken out about her love for her pet dogs - and how she sometimes struggles to fit into the bed alongside them.

Smith, who is currently starring as Elle Woods in the stage musical version of Legally Blonde, owns three dogs herself and, as a method of bonding with her character's pet Chihuahua, regularly brings one of the five dog actors home to sleep with her.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Smith described herself as a "slack mum" when it came to her canines, who she admits "run riot" around her.

Shar pei Enid, pug Barry Manilow and Japanese spitz Trish all share Smith's London flat with her and her new boyfriend, Band of Brothers star Ross McCall.

"One of the best things is that Ross has a dog, so he isn’t at all fazed by the fact I have three," she told the newspaper.

Smith isn't the only celebrity to admit to being an animal lover - X Factor star Leona Lewis recently unveiled a new tattoo, a poem about horses, which runs the length of her spine.
