Pet health care: Do not overfeed cats

To improve pet health care we should be giving cats moist food and avoid overfeeding them, says an expert.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Peter Coleshaw, a vet and pet nutritionist, explained naturally cats get most of their water intake from the prey they eat rather than from drinking water separately.
Rather than feeding our cats dried food, we should be providing them with moist items, high in meat content. Dr Coleshaw also said that cats can benefit from being fed raw sardines, mackerel or herring with the bones still in it once or twice a week. However, feeding them tinned tuna is a massive no-no, as tuna has a high salt content.
According to Dr Coleshaw, we should never feed our cats cream or milk either.
As well as providing your cat with a great diet, regularly checking your cat's temperature will help make sure your cat is in top health. Cats tend to sustain their temperature well, so any dramatic rise or fall in temperature often indicates a problem. 38 degrees C is considered normal temperature for a cat.
