Cat "unscathed" after hitching a ride

Tuesday, 9 February 2010 12:45

Cat insurance policyholders may be relieved to hear that a moggy who hitched a ride under a car bonnet last month escaped "unscathed".

The black feline hopped on to the vehicle in Tile Cross, Birmingham and ended up in Whittington near Lichfield, before a member of the public heard her cries and took her to a pet health care specialist to be checked over.

According to the RSPCA, which is now looking after the cat at Birmingham Animal Centre, she had no injuries other than a chipped tooth and scuffed nails.

However, the team at the facility have no way of finding out who she belongs to, as she was not microchipped.

"She is a friendly girl and enjoys her fuss but equally loves nothing more than napping in her bed," said centre manager Jackie Lines.

News of the moggy's close shave comes after the RSPCA launched an investigation into the death of a dog in East Bridgford.

Its skull was "smashed" and it had been so badly beaten it had to be put to sleep.
