Bereaved animal lover calls for dog vigilance

An animal lover mourning the loss of his 20-year-old cat has warned other feline fans to be on the alert against the potential dangers of pet dogs.
The Keighley News reports that Mick Harris has complained to the RSPCA after a lurcher dog - which someone managed to get into Mr Harris's back garden - attacked and killed his cat, Gismo.
The 52-year-old had raised the tabby since she was a baby and said that her age had meant she held no chance against the dog.
It had refused to release the feline even after a friend of Mr Harris tried to kick the dog off the vulnerable cat.
"What if my granddaughter had been out there at the time with the cat in her arms?" Mr Harris asked.
He noted that most dog owners were responsible but some did not engage in correct dog training with their pets.
His comments come after the RSPCA called for the heat for dangerous dogs to be placed on the shoulders of irresponsible owners rather than breeds.
