Woman given 10yr ban for hitting pet dogs

A ten-year ban from keeping pet dogs has been given to a woman from Greenwich recently found guilty of neglecting and hitting animals.
The RSPCA said Cherelle Bromfield pleaded guilty last June to beating her canine Scarlet and not guilty to neglecting another pooch, Amber.
However, in her absence, she was found guilty in November and received the ban - which cannot be appealed for five years - 150 hours of community service and an order to pay £500 costs and £600 veterinary fees.
Although Scarlet's condition improved after receiving pet health care, Amber had to be put to sleep in 2009 due to neurological problems.
The news follows a recent appeal for information from the Scottish SPCA, which found an abandoned dog in Glenrothes that had recently given birth.
About 18 months old, the black and tan crossbreed was not microchipped or wearing a tag. She has been taken to Langdykes Kennels in Kennoway while her owner is sought.
