Boxes of cats discovered

A Massachusetts pet health care and grooming centre was greeted yesterday (March 9th) by parcels they hadn't ordered - two large boxes of cats and kittens.
Luckily, the animal abandoners had gone to the right place - the dog training and grooming facility, a Dog's Best Friend, is located where an animal shelter used to be.
The nine adult cats and four kittens were transferred to the welfare centre where, the Salem News reports, two of the kittens have already been adopted.
It is said that this is not the first incident in which animals have been abandoned outside
the grooming parlour.
"The next step will be to find space for them while they wait to get spayed or neutered, then go into foster care," Laurie McCannon of the animal shelter explained.
It was reported by the Swindon Advertiser recently that animal welfare organisations in the area are on alert after a spate of kittens were abandoned.
