Animal lovers have been warned about the risk of buying piglets that turn out not to be the micro pig breeds sellers claim they are.
The Daily Mail reports there have been a number of instances where the animals have grown far larger than their owners have anticipated, often causing problems for their owners.
So-called micro pigs are only supposed to grow to around a foot in height and can be trained to live in the home, but some of the piglets turn out to be full-sized pigs - with pet health care potentially becoming an issue if they are kept indoors.
One person who has suffered after her pig grew to be bigger than expected is 22-year-old Melissa White, who told the news source her pet Henry has caused extensive damage to their family home.
"We've had to buy a new front room carpet, lino for the utility room and we returfed the garden," she remarked.
Katie Price and Alex Reid were one celebrity couple who owned a micro pig, but they have returned the animal after it started to become aggressive.
