Ethical insurance policyholders given pet dental advice

Pet insurance policyholders who would like to know more about animal dental care have been given some tips.

A recent article in the Oakland Tribune noted that 85 per cent of dogs older than one year have some type of periodontal disease, yet owners often fail to obtain the correct treatment.

However, vets are fully qualified to handle dog dental problems and the right plan of action should be followed if teeth trouble is experienced.

"Ask your veterinarian to show you the condition and stage of your pet's teeth during every visit," wrote Raj Salwan. "A little regular care over time is better than excessive, infrequent care - and will result in a longer, happier life for your beloved companion."

Ethical insurance customers who have had to get their pet seen to for dental treatment may already know how important it is to keep up with this area of health care.

Animal Friends are a specialist pet insurance company providing dog insurance and cat insurance to British pet owners since 1999 and we now offer horse insurance too.
