Should I Try Puppy Classes?

When you get a puppy you may be tempted to handle all the training yourself rather than commit to a puppy training class. Although there is no reason why you can't train your puppy yourself, puppy classes have another important benefit; they provide a forum where you can introduce your puppy to other dogs and socialise them not just with other canines but humans too.

You may think that introducing your dog to a few family members and perhaps the odd dog in the neighbourhood will suffice. However this is nowhere near enough exposure to the different types of dogs with different temperaments that is required to ensure your puppy is comfortable in all situations.

Puppy classes are highly recommended for all puppies. Puppy classes teach a puppy to have proper manners with other dogs and humans. It teaches them not to jump up when they meet strange dogs, which keeps the puppy safe. There will be certain dogs that don't like being approached by an excited puppy and may react aggressively.

When you get a puppy, along with buying a good dog insurance and registering with the vet, seek out a local puppy class. You'll enjoy the experience and benefit from a well socialised and well behaved puppy.
