Keep pets wrapped up from the cold

Pet dogs and cats can suffer in the cold if not properly looked after, say an animal society.
The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) organisation have given pet health care givers tips for ensuring their animals stay warm in cold temperatures.
PETA advise owners to keep animals inside, if freezing conditions are on the way, and not to allow dogs or other animals to roam free as they may get injured while hunting for warmth.
PETA said: "Although they are equipped with fur coats, dogs and other animals can still suffer from frostbite and exposure and they can become dehydrated when water sources freeze."
The body has also asked animal lovers to keep an eye out for animals that are less fortunate, like strays.
PETA suggests that strays should be taken in until their carer can be found and that people should also remember to put food out for birds who may struggle to find food in freezing temperatures.
Animal Friends Insurance recently reminded owners that a healthy diet was just as important as exercise in caring for a pet.
