Dog walking challenge 'to involve 100 pooches'

Dog walking is essential for keeping pooches happy and healthy - but one animal lover is going to use this activity to raise some money for charity.
James Hewitt has set himself a target of taking 100 rescue dogs for a stroll in only 12 hours. He intends to reach this goal on April 12th and donate sponsorship cash to his local Dogs Trust, where he works as a canine carer.
The pooches will go for walkies around the rehoming centre's grounds and it is expected Mr Hewitt will cover about 50 kilometres.
One of his aims to highlight how volunteers can help the facility out, although nobody will be asked to walk 100 dogs!
"My work at the centre is quite physical and Im already responsible for walking around 20 dogs a day, but Ive started training for the event and am stocking up on plasters for the big day," he added.
Recently, Dogs Trust Evensham manager Chris Slight kayaked across a weir to highlight the many different places animals can live.
He visited a rescue pup in his new home - a narrowboat.
