Chris Klein criticised for drunk driving with pet dog

American Pie actor Chris Klein has come under fire from pet health care organisations in America, after being arrested for driving under the influence with his canine in the car.

The actor, who was once engaged to the current Mrs Cruise, Katie Holmes, was taken into custody in Los Angeles yesterday (June 17th).

According to celebrity gossip website TMZ, Klein was more than three times the legal limit for alcohol intoxication when he was caught.

Upon hearing that the star's pet dog was a passenger in the vehicle, a spokesperson for In Defense of Animals told TMZ: "By choosing to drive under the influence with his dog in the car, Chris not only put innocent drivers in danger, but broke a promise to be a protector and guardian to his pet."

Meanwhile, actor Michael Douglas was recently spotted walking his white fluffy pooch Figaro in pictures published by the Daily Mail.
