Do Cats Have Kitty Friends? - Blog about Pet Animals

Some people think that cats are solitary animals, and that they are antisocial. Every cat has a different personality and some just like humans, are more outgoing than others. Cats can live in groups but they don't need to. They are not like some other animals that are considered pack animals. I have spent many years observing cats and I have found they seem content whether they socialize with other cats or not.

The feline social system is usually quite flexible. I have many outdoor cats and I have noticed that some are loners who keep to themselves. There are others who seem to like to hang out with other cats and they sleep and play together. I have found that the cats that are good hunters usually stay by themselves.

Each of my cats has their own characteristics and personalities. Kittens, on the other hand, are very social and love to play and sleep with their litter mates. It seems as they get older they get less friendly and seem to go their own way.

Cats are very adaptable and can live in groups or be perfectly content on their own. Usually cats are not aggressive towards each other unless they feel their territory is being threatened. The only time that I have found that my cats become aggressive is when one of the females has a litter of kittens. Usually my cats will walk away from a situation rather than confront another cat.

Cats are fun to watch because they each have their own personalities. I have some cats that hardly ever leave the yard and others like to roam the countryside and I only see them when they return to eat. Even though you can't really consider cats as being very social they do seem content to live with other cats and don't mind sharing their food or space. They especially like the company on cold nights when they will all sleep in one big pile!

To protect the four-legged members of your family you might want to consider buying pet insurance for your cat. Not only will this give you peace of mind; it will help you to afford expensive medical costs if your pet becomes ill or has an accident. Pet insurance can help ease the strain on your budget if you were faced with high veterinary bills.
