Animal welfare charity the RSPCA is running an appeal to help generated cash for the pet health care of one unfortunate cat.

Puss, a young female silver tabby, was injured in a hit and run in London and rushed to the RSPCA Essex South and Southend branch by a passing cyclist.

She has received treatment for severe leg injuries and is still wearing bandages, with veterinarians estimating it will cost around £1,000 to fix her.

Now the RSPCA is hoping its supporters will make a £3 donation to help cover the costs for Puss's medical treatment.

Puss in Boots day is Friday December 10th.

"We are hoping to fund treatment for animals like Puss, who has a good chance of making a full recovery and we are hoping that a Puss in Boots day will catch people's imaginations," secretary of the branch Stuart Ottley said.

Previously, the RSPCA had issued advice to owners concerned about their furry friends' welfare on Bonfire Night.
