Owner sought for wounded cat

Pet health care for a wounded cat was recently required after it was found with a deep cut in his leg.

According to the Scottish SPCA, the male adult grey animal was discovered at Old Deer near Mintlaw in Aberdeenshire earlier this week.

He had caught his front right leg in his collar, which had then rubbed against his skin, causing what the organisation called a "very nasty injury". It is believed that he strayed and then could not get home because he was in pain.

However, he has been treated by a vet and is taking a course of antibiotics.

"He is a nice wee cat, in good condition and his collar was red with studs and a bell. We're sure his owner is missing him," said SPCA inspector Scott Elphinstone.

Another mystery recently encountered by the charity was the case of a newborn puppy found on a pavement in the Orchard area of Tullibody, near Alloa, last week.

She was only a few hours old and was probably dumped by her mother by accident, experts said.
