Kitten survives washing machine cat-astrophe

Kimba the white kitten has survived what could truly have been a cat-astrophe, pet insurance readers may be intrigued to hear.

The fluffy feline had climbed inside her family's washing machine at her home in Manly Vale, Sydney.

Lindsay Rogers, her owner, told the Manly Daily that it was lucky he had decided to put the clothes in for a 30-minute cold water cycle and that he had got the shock of his life when the machine clicked off half an hour later.

"When I opened the door, it just went 'meow' and stuck its head out," he explained, noting that the spin cycle alone could have killed the Persian kitten.

He rushed Kimba to the vet where she was given intravenous fluids, dried off and had her eyes bathed thoroughly as the detergent had badly damaged them.

However, she has made a full recovery - although is now staying well away from the appliance.

Meanwhile, the Scottish SPCA recently rescued a baby fox from a tyre, in which it had its head stuck.
